Our Commitment

Norwich Canoe Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all members, particularly children and vulnerable adults. We expect all members, coaches, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

Key Principles

• The welfare of children and vulnerable adults is paramount
• All members have the right to protection from abuse
• All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously
• We work in partnership with parents, carers, and relevant authorities

Safeguarding Officers

Our Safeguarding Officers are trained to handle concerns and provide support:

Reporting Concerns

If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult, please:

1. Speak to one of our Safeguarding Officers immediately
2. Record the details of your concern as soon as possible
3. Do not discuss the matter with anyone other than appropriate authorities

In an emergency, always call 999 or contact the local authority safeguarding team.

DBS Checks

All coaches, instructors, and volunteers working with children and vulnerable adults undergo Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks appropriate to their role.

Code of Conduct

All members must:

• Treat everyone with dignity and respect
• Follow club rules and procedures
• Report any concerns about safety or welfare
• Set a positive example for younger members
• Never engage in inappropriate behavior or language
