Whether you’re a seasoned paddler looking to experience the speed and excitement of a racing kayak, or a complete beginner ready to learn something new – you’ve come to the right place.
Our Learn to Kayak courses run throughout the warmer months and are perfect for anyone aged 8 and over who wants to learn in a fun and supportive environment.

Led by qualified, DBS-checked coaches, our sessions include all equipment and use of our facilities – so you can just turn up and get started. Designed specifically for beginners, we offer courses for families, children, adults and those over 60s. There truly is something for everyone.
During the course, you’ll primarily paddle racing-style kayaks. We begin in our most stable boats so that you can build confidence and develop your skills. As your confidence grows, you’ll have the opportunity to try a less stable boat, giving you a taste of the faster racing-style kayaks used in the sport. We also have surfskis, which are similar to touring kayaks and are particularly stable.
We don’t normally use Canadian canoes as part of our Learn to Kayak courses. If you’re interested in learning Canadian canoeing, please get in touch and we can arrange a more bespoke session.
All sessions are on the water. Participants must be able to swim at least 25 metres.
